On Saturday, April 21st, Longhorn Larry Larue (aka Dale Niles) died suddenly at home and joined Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, Rex Allen, and Clayton Moore "the Lone Ranger" to ride in the big round-up in the sky.
Longhorn Larry started shootin' cowboy style last fall, and in the time he'd been playin' with us, he'd come to love the sport and the camaraderie of all the other pretend cowboys & cowgirls at our monthly gatherin's. Because he loved cowboy action shooting so much, his son called Pleasant and invited all the Marauders and Leadmine Gang members, who could, to attend the memorial service for Larry. |

Good bye, Longhorn Larry Larue. We're proud to have known you and to have shared some of life's pleasures with you on those Saturdays when we showed the better sides of our natures and had fun together. Adios, Pardner |

CHATTANOOGA CATTLE BARONS' BALL |
The Chattanooga chapter of the American Cancer Society will conduct it's annual fund raising event,
The Cattle Barons' Ball, on Saturday, May 12th. The organizers of the event have contacted our Territorial Governor, Cooter Clinker
(aka Mike Pleasant) and asked the Marauders to attend their event and help set a real western atmosphere.
Last year, several Marauders participated in the event, and based upon that performance, the folks conducting the event have again asked for our help. This year there are some changes to be made. No blank rounds can be fired inside the pavilion. The loud noise upset some attendees, and in a fund raising operation, it's important to respect crowd wishes. Another change is the status under which we participate. Last year, we helped without a charge or return. This year, the organizers want to make a contribution to the Marauders club. If you're interested in participating in the 2001Cattle Baron's Ball and helping the Chattanooga folks raise money for the American Cancer Society, please contact Cooter Clinker and he'll give you more information about the event. His phone number is (423) 875-0254. |

MISSISSIPPI, TENNESSEE, & ALABAMA STATE COWBOY ACTION SHOOTING CHAMPIONSHIP MAY 12 TH |
Ever shoot in a state championship shoot?
Ever wanted to? Well, the 2001 state championship shoot for the states of Mississippi, Tennessee, & Alabama will be held by the Mississippi River Rangers at their range at Byhalia, MS
(30 miles Southeast of Memphis) May 10th-13th.
The annual event, Smokin' Guns At Rabbit Ridge, is advertised in the Cowboy Chronicle, and an entry form is printed there, along with the phone number of the contact hombre (Easy Lee 662-838-7451) and the club e-mail address: rabitridge@aol.com We have a few Marauders plannin' to shoot in the event. Trail Bones, Angie Oakley, and Blayde Hollister have already registered, and ole Pleasant is talkin' real strong about goin' and shootin'. This will be his 2nd time as a participant. Shoot real good, cowfolks. Make a good showin' for the rest of us Marauders. |

HERE'S A LIST OF COWBOYS & COWGIRLS WHO SHOT ONE OR MORE STAGES WITHOUT A MISS |
Pleasant (4) Curly Bill, Ocoee Red (3) Cruel Hand Luke, Blayde Hollister (2) Tri, Kennasaw Kid, Jaybird Daniel, Grave Maker, T-Bone, Calibre .45, Sodbuster, Tellico, Tennessee Hoss, Rip Overland, Trail Bones, Deadman, Owlhoot Hardin, Sundance, Wacky Jack, Angie Oakley, Shadrack Jones, Trooper George, and Josey Buckhorn (1) Ole Pleasant just about did it. There were 5 stages and he had clean shoots on 4 of them. Once upon a time at a north Alabama shoot, the critter shot a clean match. That means he didn't miss any targets. Ever wonder how ole Pleasant places up at the top of our shoots as frequently as he does? He's a little like a gambler. Gamblers who win usually say they have a system. Well, Pleasant also has a system. Here's how his system works: 1. He shoots fast. 2. He doesn't miss much. It must be a pretty good system. It appears to work. |

TRI DONATES DOOR PRIZES |
Showing cowboy spirit, Tri stopped by the registration table before the April shoot and gave the clubs 4 copies of the COWBOY BIBLE to be awarded as door prizes. Following the shoot, the 1st drawing was conducted. The 1st winner of a COWBOY BIBLE was Tennessee Jake. Ole Jake had already hit the trail for the home corral, but he'll get his bible at the next shoot. Congratulations, Jake. And thanks for your generosity, Tri. |

PRESCIOUS COMMODITY HIRED BY N.R.A. |
Remember Prescious Commodity? She's the cowgirl that used to accompany T-Bone to our shoots, and she shot quite well too. Well, this cowgirl, who is still a Marauder, has a new job. She's now employed by the National Rifle Association in Virginia, helping those folks protect our right to keep our cowboy guns and play our monthly game. If you see ole T-Bone steppin' high, it ain't just because he's been walkin' through the barn yard and is bein' careful where he steps. He's steppin' high because he's proud of his little girl. Of course she'd probably dig out her six guns if anyone called her a little girl. |
