Meeting Notes from our Secretary

APRIL 29 is the 5TH Saturday of the month so it’s a WORK DAY on the range!!!  We’ll be arriving around 9:30 and staying as long as we can.  MARK YOUR CALENDAR cause our Fourth of July Celebration is around the corner and we want our “NEW” range to be “lookin-good!”

Calling all Ladies and Gentlemen, Soiled Doves and Desperadoes, it's just 2 months away, the Celebration of our grand nation's freedom, the Fourth of July!  In order to ring in the celebrations in the Cowboy Way , we of course are throwing a massive Cowboy Jubilee!!

At our meeting we talked extensively about the details of this celebration.  You've already gotten the flyer out in the mail and know most of the basic details about the festivities.  We'll have a six stage shoot starting after the 9:00 safety meeting, various shooting side events, family games and activities, live entertainment, fireworks, and of course, our famous cowboy cuisine.

First of all, we need to prepare the range for this event.  That is our first and foremost responsibility. We need help getting the fences up, t-posts driven, posts set for gates at and around back ends of the berms.  Contact the range and find out when you can come out and help.  Again, this coming Saturday is a SPECIAL WORK DAY

We also need help getting the back fence row cleaned up and get all the wood and materials cleared out.  What we can't use will be taken to the bonfire heap.

The Thursday and Friday before the July shoot will be special work days to get the last of the work done to get the set up ready for the parking area, the side matches, the main shooting stages, sign in and registration areas, and the other various game and activity areas.

If you are going to volunteer for any of these jobs for the range, contact the Mystery Dog Ranch and let them know when you can come out.  5th Saturdays are always range work days and any ol' time you can come out will be appreciated.

* * * * * *

We NEED VOLUNTEERS for the day of the event to help run the match.

Shawnee Lee and the Mystery Dog Ranch Wranglers will be in charge of all the family activities up near the barn (this will include the sack races, egg throws, etc.)

Cruel Hand Luke has been nominated to deal with the issues surrounding fireworks given his past experience as a pyromani--... I mean, Pyro-technician.  Yeah, that's it.  In other words, he's not going to blow his fingers off doing something stupid.  :-)

Coffee Joe has volunteered the use of his sound system.

Angie Oakley will be directly managing the pre-registration application packets and making sure those are all prepared and will head the set up tables for purchasing various event tickets, and will be in charge of directing and organizing volunteers for all the shooting matches and shooting side events.

If you can VOLUNTEER, please read through this listing and call Angie Oakley.  I can be reached at angieoakley@bellsouth.net, 423-332-0689 and 423-443-9358.  Leave me your alias cause that's how I know you, and phone number and where you want to help volunteer.  If a slot has already been filled please consider another venue.

 Early Morning Volunteer Stations Needed:

1.  1 volunteer at the Food Ticket Purchase Table

2.  1 volunteer at the Side Stage Ticket Purchase Table

3.  I'll need a few cowpokes with red flags to make sure all visitors are parking in the correct area.

4.  I'll need 2 or 3 extra helpers aside from me at the Pre-Register and Sign In Table.   We'll set up early and take care of all the cowpokes that come rolling in early for the safety meeting at 9:00 and the six stage shoot thereafter.  Don't worry, you'll each have a specific job to do and it will be very streamlined.

After the six-stage shoot, we'll be holding side matches.  I'll need volunteers for the side match stations.  Call me and let me know where you can help.

 5.  1-2 volunteer at the speed pistol stage,

6.  1-2 at the speed shotgun stage,

7.  1-2 at the speed rifle stage,

8.  3 at the cowboy clays (need extra folks to run the clays).

9.  1 or 2 at the turkey shoot.

(Any match listing is subject to change at any time.)

I'll need a lady and a gentleman to be in charge of the costume contest which will be held at 6:00 .

If you know of any place where we can get prizes for kids at a good price, find out the details for next month's meeting.

That pretty much covers the basics for the help we need with the events.

Happy trails to you until we meet again!

Best wishes,

~Angie Oakley~
