Bad Hand Callahan shoots 1st perfect match

Owlhoot Hardin shoots 3rd perfect match

The August shoot was a good one.  It was hot, but it was fun.  And as usual, the action was fast and furious.  How so?  Well, Marshal Too Tall won in 2 categories of the Buffalo Shoot...1st in the 200-yard single shot rifle and 100 yard lever action rifle shoot.  Tri won the 200-yard lever action rifle event. Calibre .45 and Pleasant tied for 1st place in the 50-yard pistol shoot.  Owlhoot Hardin shot his 3rd perfect match (without missing any targets)Badhand Callahan shot his 1st perfect match.  Cruel Hand Luke had another stellar performance, finishing as the TOP GUN at the August shoot and 1st in Traditional Class.

Horseshoe John did his usual slam-bang job in setting up the range.  Thanks go to him and his helpers:  Bad Hand Callahan, Coffee Joe, Deadman, and Trail Bones.  And thanks to all the cowboys and cowgirls who helped take down all the targets and props and get them back to the target shack after the shoot was finished.

OUT ON THE RANGE

Before the first shot is fired and after the shootin' is over, someone has to set up all the targets & props, then take them down and orderly store them in the target house. Horseshoe John is in charge of the range and the storage houses and he does and excellent job with both.  Look inside the sheds at the next shoot you attend and you'll see that they are well organized and available for use.

These shooters are storing the targets after the August shoot.

OUTLAW JOSEY WALES SHOOT IN SEPTEMBER

One of Clint's best!  The film opens as Union soldiers destroy the home and family of Missouri farmer Josey Wales. He joins up with Confederate soldiers to get his revenge, and, after years of battle, refuses to surrender to Terrill the man responsible for his family's death.  He rescues Jamie, a wounded young rebel, from the Union soldiers, who send Terrill and the reluctant Fletcher after them.  Josey and Jamie next pick up two Cherokees, a stray dog, and, after rescuing them from Comanches, an elderly woman and her granddaughter.  They form an unlikely bunch as they settle down at an old farm house in Texas, where Josey decides that he will stop running and finally face his hunters.  To find out more about Clint Eastwoods's movies, including a full filmography, click one of the pictures on to the left.

The September shoot will showplace the movie, THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES, Clint Eastwood's nifty western.  Stages will be based on the movie.  We'll also have contests for the best Josey Wales costume presence, best female from the movie presence, and best other character from the movie presence.  Winners of the 3 contests will receive certificates and a free future shoot.  So watch the movie, dress up, and come and shoot.  If you don't want to dress the part, come and shoot with us anyway.

TEAM SHOOT IN OCTOBER

At the October shoot, we'll shoot 6 stages.  But we'll shoot in teams of 3.  That's right, cowboys & cowgirls...and you can choose who you shoot with.  Just remember, only 3 shooters per team.  Scores will be kept by teams. Yes, it's different. But what the heck.

Now if you're saying to yourself, "Hey. I don't know anyone to shoot with."  Don't worry about it.  Remember, you have the September shoot to conjure up yourself a couple of pardners for the October shoot.  If you don't have team mates on the morning of the October shoot, there will probably be other cowfolk in the same position. So, we'll find last minute teams then. And if there still is a person or so short to form a team, it won't be hard to get somebody to shoot with 2 teams to make up the last team.
