RECORD NUMBER OF SHOOTERS AT JANUARY SHOOT |
|||||
| "Posse up! It's time for the safety meeting." And out of the pass came the thundering foot beats of the biggest posse of shooters the Marauders has fielded yet: 57! Along with our normal gang, we had a whole crew of cowboys from the Knoxville club, the Smoky Mountain Shootist Society. | |||||

Knoxville Cowboys … Good Shots & Good Sports |
|||||
|
We broke up into posses and went out to shoot them bad guys and outlaws. Then after
fillin' the air with lead and the smell of gun smoke, we gathered at the chuck wagon, where Dirty Bean Pot
(the former Bean Pot and Billy Ringgold) and Lupas Hodag fed us hot dogs and chili, coffee, and tea. Then after the vittles was consumed, it was back to
shootin' them bad guys and buffalo.
One cowboy amazed several of us cow folk. He was shootin' one of them Daisy BB guns, or at least that's what it sounded like. Old Trail Bones was heard to say, "I think T-Bone's shootin' an air rifle. I had to take my ear plugs out to hear his rifle shoot." It was sorta light loaded, but he hit his targets, and when that lead hit the targets, the lead bounced up in the air and made some of the purtyest stars you ever saw. A couple of cow folks took some of them stars home with'em. |

|||||
| 2 stages were shot using a real neat wagon that Trail Bones made. The ole cowboy did a real good job on that wagon. | |||||

FROM THE "BELIEVE IT NOT" FILES Buckeye got so wrapped up in gettin' the bad guys on one stage that he stuck his knife through his duster and slashed a big hole in it. But it didn't dampen his spirits. He had a smile on his face, a rip in his coat, and a good sense of humor. |
