January 06 TMM SASS Shoot

January Meeting Notes:

The Mystery Dog Ranch Long-Range Buffalo Buckle shoot has begun!  Come one and come all to compete for the First Annual Long Range Buckle Shoot.  The Buckle shoot is only good for the 200 yard target.  This is a sample of the buckle; it will read Mystery Dog Ranch Long Range Champion, 2006 and is 4 ¾” x 3 ¾” in size.  There will be a Buffalo motif in the middle!

Before long you will see some new targets!  The club agreed to purchase 15 brand new POPUPS!  We’re hoping for February delivery date, but if not, hopefully March!

BERMS ARE ON THE WAY ! !  The Bulldozer is schedule for the week of February 6th( (weather permitting)!  After the work is completed we all need to get together to finish ONE project at a time.  There was discussion about building a permanent “pole shed” in order to provide a roof line the length of the range!  More discussions are needed in order that construction is done in an orderly fashion.  All donations are accepted to build this facility.  Come and be a part of History of Homestead Range, where it is Home of the Tennessee Mountain Marauders!

Everyone’s HELP will be needed to set the range back up for the February shoot.  With the bulldozing everything will be removed, etc., so again, lots of help will be most appreciated on February 17th!

21, January 1806 – SHOOTOUT AT HOMESTEAD RANGE:  Homestead Range started out a rainy mess, but cowboys were comin from all directions; they wanted to get them a buffalo, protect their claim, save a baby, get their share of the loot, revenge a friend, take care of some highway men, EAT, and have some fun!

The rain slowed things down a little and finally the Homestead Shuttle was ready to head out but not before Ms. Dixie Ree had Coffee, Biscuits n Gravy n Sausage at the Main Line Shack.  After breakfast the Buffalo Hunters got their turn, and a big thank-you goes to the cowboys for makin a fine shootin station, “you can even prop your leg on it.”  After the fog and smoke cleared there was plenty of buffalo for everyone thanks to the fine shootin of some.  “Dead Eye is going to give Barn Scoop lessons on how to use the 45 at 200 yards!”

As the smoke and fog cleared, the cowboys seen Claim Jumpers trying to get their claims, however the only claim those varmints have now is the claim of a 6 x 6 plot and a lot of lead.  With the Comanche on the warpath the cowboys found an abandoned baby at the outpost while carrying the baby they managed to get rid of a lot of injuns and got the baby back to its Ma.

The cowboys found out that they were fast enough to earn some quick cash by surprising some bad hombres and taking their bag of cash in exchange of lead.  After all this excitement the grub wagon appeared with Ms. Dixie’s Homemade Chili and Hot Dogs and all the fixins to go along.  She also fixed up a fireside hot peach cobbler that was second to none!  After dinner the cowboys were able to get some sweet revenge in the Town of Deadwood by gunning down a bunch of dirty dogs that rustled their herd and killed their Pard.  They even shot one running dog in the back.  After all that the cowboys still had to get supplies back to the ranch after staying too long in the saloon.  They loaded their wagon for the trip home through Grey Ghost Mesa.  They came across a roadblock and it wasn’t no Law Dogs checkpoint.  After shootin it out with the Masked Bandits all the cowboys took Pete back to the bunkhouse to sit a spell and clean their guns and to reminese the good time had by all.  Here’s a Tip of the Hat and a Pat on the Back till we meet on the range again…
