More Shooters Than You Could Shake a Stick At!

     We had 67 shooters at our July Shootin' Match. That's a record!!.  At our July 2000 shoot, we had 26 cowboys and cowgirls that registered to shoot. That means 158% more pistolleros shot this July.

     Several interesting things happened at the July 2001 shoot.  Swampy shot his 1st clean stage (no misses).  As a result, he collected $5 each from Wacky Jack and Shadrack Jones.  Then in the after shoot drawing, Sadie Lou drew his name and he won a Cowboy Bible (contributed by Tri).

     But Swampy wasn't the only one to make a showing.  Owlhoot Hardin shot his 2nd consecutive Perfect Match (no misses or procedurals), and he did it shootin' Duelist.  Cruel Hand Luke also shot a Perfect Match. 

     Gravemaker had a good match. He only missed 1 shot.

     Double Barrel showed the long range buffalo shooters some real shootin'.  Shootin' at 10-inch discs at 200 yards, he hit 5 targets with 5 shots and easily won the Single Shot Category in the Buffalo Shoot.  Hondo placed 2nd in that category.

     Tri won the Lever Action Category in the Buffalo Shoot.  In a shoot-off, he placed 1st and Gravemaker placed 2nd.  Their targets were 100 yards down-range.

     But the most notable showing of the day went to Cherokee Blue Eyes.  How many targets did she miss?  Shucks, I don't know.  But in her shootin' costume, she got more attention than anyone else at the range. Here's how she described her outfit: "I'm probably red (from the sun) in some places I don't normally show, but this outfit is a lot cooler than the stuff I usually shoot in."

Election of 2002 Officers

     It's time to begin thinking about electing Marauder Officers to serve in 2002.  To provide structure to the process, the 2001 Officers have developed a procedure to be used.   In addition, they have appointed an Election Committee to coordinate the process and to present nominations of eligible candidates to run for office to the club at the October meeting.  At that time, nominations of eligible candidates for office will also be taken from the floor.  Following the presentations of nominations and nominations from the floor, the membership present at the October meeting will cast ballots to elect officers.

 Eligible Candidates:  We are a SASS affiliated club.  To be eligible to run for or be nominated to be an officer, a cowboy / cowgirl must be a SASS Member.  In order to run for or be nominated to be Territorial Governor, one must be a SASS Life Member. 

The Process:  If you are a Marauders member and a SASS member, you are eligible to run for and be elected to hold an office in the Marauders in 2002. Here's how the process will work:

If you are eligible and want to run for a 2002 office, call or see a member of the Election Committee and register to run. Tell them your alias, name, SASS membership number, and the office you are seeking. (You can run for or be nominated for only 1 office) Your application to run for office must be received by the Election Committee not later than October 1.

The Election Committee will register eligible members who apply to run for office.

The Election Committee may recruit and nominate members for offices, even though the members may not have personally applied to run.

The Election Committee will notify the President and Executive Officer of registered candidates prior to the October meeting, in order for ballots to be prepared for the election, and will then make the nominations to the membership in the October meeting.

The President, at the October meeting, will open the procedure for nominations from the floor. When the nomination procedure is completed, ballots will be distributed to members present to vote by secret ballot.

Ballots will be collected, presented to the Election Committee. The Committee will count the ballots and report the results in the October meeting.

Members elected to hold 2002 offices will assume office on January 1, 2002.
