JULY SHOOT SEES NEW MARAUDER SHOOTING BUILDING, OVERHEAD PROTECTION & MORE NEW MEMBERS

We had another good turnout at the July shoot.  65 cowboys & cowgirls showed up to play the game, and everyone seemed to enjoy the hoop-la, gunsmoke, and action.  Some folks made a fashion statement in their shootin' attire.  Lady Longhorn shot her first match, and she looked right perky in pink.  She shot purty good too.  Not to be outdone, ol' Swampy turned out in Aces High boots, an Aces High bib shirt, and an Ace of Spades stuck in the band of his Derby hat.  His shootin' pardner, Chickamauga Clint, also rode in wearing new cowboy duds, then he joined up and officially became a Marauder.  Cruel Hand Luke did his usual good shootin'.  He shot a perfect match and didn't miss a shot.  He also placed 1st in the shootin' order.  Tarheel also shot a clean match, and we had several cowboys that only missed 1 shot.  Calibre .45 won the precision pistol side match with a score of 20 of possible 24.  The next closest cowboy scored 13.

If you were there, you got a chance to see our new shootin' building and overhead shed.  The shed looks very impressive.  The building presented some interesting shootin' angles.  It's still needs a little finishing work and some painting, but it worked very well. We reported earlier that it would be a two story lookin' hotel type building, but that didn't work out.  Remember, we're shootin' on some other fellers' range, and we had to compromise a little.  When it's done, it'll look spiffyThanks to Horseshoe John for all the coordination time and effort he's put in this project.

Cruel Hand Luke - Shootin' Real Good!

Thanks also to Pleasant for the siding he purchased and installed on the building front.  We also owe a big cowboy & cowgirl THANK YOU to Horseshoe John and his helpers for setting up the range and to the cowboys & cowgirls who helped take down the range and store the targets and props.  Don't forget, it takes time and effort to put up the range on Friday before the shoot, and don't saddle up and ride away immediately after the last shot. Somebody has to take down the range. When your posse finishes the last stage - and no one else is behind you to shoot- please take down your last stage range and get the targets and stuff to the target house.

CHRPC RECEIVES NRA AWARD
by Tri

The Cleveland Hunting Rifle & Pistol Club was awarded the "NRA Gold Medal Award" for service to the shooting sports, the community, and the NRA.  The plaque will be hanging in the clubhouse by the next shoot.  The award was presented by Richard Robinson, the Tennessee NRA Field Representative, to Tri and Pleasant at the Friends of the NRA July dinner in Chattanooga.  This award makes the CHRP club eligible to receive grants from the NRA for such things as range improvement.

On behalf of the members of the Cleveland Hunting Rifle and Pistol Club, Pleasant and Tri would like to thank the Marauders for the nice shed constructed on the #2 pistol range.
