Well pards, we had our first team shoot.  I say first, because members are already asking for another.  While reading the scenarios and doing the walk thru, it seemed pretty daunting, however shooting the event went smoothly and was a lot of funDeadman did an awesome job writing and putting this shoot together.  Thanks

Deadman for your perseverance, because there are always people who don't want to do anything new or different.  On that note something new has come up...the Shootout at Pigeon Forge!
Yes it's different and a bit daunting, but I'm sure if we just do it - things will work out fine.  If you want to be involved with the shoot give me a call to sign up.  But be sure you can make the dates; February 6th through 9th.  Speaking of setting up. I understand that Horseshoe John was setting up the range by himself, until Deadman came alongThis situation must be resolved if we want to continue to shoot.

I want to welcome new shooters Benny Plott, Ronald Dunn ( Slingin Dunn), Ronda Tranter (Josphine Marksman).

Happy Trails

SHOOTOUT AT PIGEON FORGE

February 6th through the 9th, 2003, the Smoky Mountain Shootist Society is holding a 3-day shoot.  The Shootout at Pigeon Forge is part of Saddle Up Days.  In addition to the shoot, there will be a lot of cowboy related activities.  The Knoxville cowboys want us to help them put on the event.  If you're interested in helping, let me knowBUT, IF YOU SAY THAT YOU'LL HELP, YOU MUST MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO BE THERE. It will make us look bad if we show up with less than the number of people who have committed to help conduct the event, and then there are not enough workers.  Workers will get to shoot free, and the Pigeon Forge folks may be able to help us financially with hotel rooms for workers.  Non workers will pay $50 to shoot 10 stages.  We'll get part of the profit for helping by working to conduct the event.  As more becomes known, we'll let you know.

ELECTION OF 2003 OFFICERS

At the club meeting following the October shoot, the election committee reported that none of the candidates for office had anyone running against them.  With no competition, a motion was made and seconded that we save the expense of printing ballots and that the candidates be elected by acclimation.  The motion carried, and the following candidates were elected as 2003 club officers.

Left to Right:  Hondo-President, Double Barrel-Vice President,  Deadman-Executive Officer, Horseshoe John-Range Officer, Sundance-Treasurer, Trooper George-Secretary,  Pleasant-Territorial Governor

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS SHOOT & FAMILY SOCIAL EVENT DECEMBER 7TH

The Annual Members & Their Families Only Christmas Shoot & Family Social will be held on December 7th.  If you plan to attend, please contact Hondo and let him know that you"ll attend, and if your family will accompany you, let him know how many and their ages.  This information will be used to make sure we have enough meat and drinks at the lunch event.  Also, let him know what dish/food you plan to bring.
We plan to shoot two stages, one of which will be a "cut down the Christmas tree" event: shooting 4X4's.  So if you shoot BB gun loads, bring more ammo with you.  You'll need a few more shots to peck the wood away.
After we shoot the two stages, we'll have a sit down dinner, trade gifts in our annual gifts pick & trade (approximately $10 price limit), award trail prizes (you city slickers might call them door prizes, but we don't), and present various certificates of award for 2002 accomplishments.  So be sure to mark your calendar and be there.  Bring your family too.  Let them meet your cowboy & cowgirl shootin' playmates.

As you make your list of cowboy and cowgirl stuff you want or need for Christmas, please remember the good folks who sponsored our 2001 Annual Christmas event. Here's who they are:

Cast Iron PotCast Iron PotWORDS FROM THE COOK

Dan Kindred, our lunch cook said to thank the Marauders who help him and his family provide our meals at the monthly shoots.  He said that without the extra help, they couldn't do all that's required to feed our hungry shooters.  A hot lunch, and enough of it to serve everyone is mighty good after a morning of shootin'.

The Marauders thank you and your family, Dan.
