Marauders Shoot-Out September 2001 A Taste Of Mule Camp Part II

Last month, we shot 5 stages that were part of  The 2001 Shoot-Out At Mule Camp.  Being as there were 10 stages at Mule Camp, we shot the last 5 at our September match.  And when I say "we", there were a lot of us!  62 shooters participated in the match, and, as usual, there were a number of non-shooters present.  When all the smoke cleared, Cruel Hand Luke was the overall winner, 1st Place Traditional Cowboy shooter, and he shot a perfect match, no misses or procedurals, doing it.  Two other cowboys also shot perfect / clean matches: Deadman, who placed 15th and Owlhoot Hardin, who placed 28thIn the last 4 shoots, Owlhoot has shot clean matches in 3 of them.

Thanks to the Ohio Kid, formerly known as Buckeye, we tried a new way to conduct the Buffalo Shoot.  The Ohio Kid held the match at 8:30 am, before the monthly shoot.  And it worked great!.  The Ohio Kid said that he plans to hold the Buffalo Shoot at 8:30 am in October, so don't be late.  When he says he starts at 8:30 am, that's what he means.  At 8:30 am, the 1st round goes down range.  So, be there!

Catoosa Kid, SASS #18,541    The Catoosa Kid is a Ringgold, GA cowboy and has been shootin' with the Marauders since about 1997.  He frequently helps conduct monthly shoots by serving as a Posse Leader.

Jaybird Daniel, SASS #33,336      Ole Jaybird is a Cleveland, TN cowboy and started shootin' with us in 2000.  In case you're makin' a family tree, he and Ocoee Red married twin sisters.  If you don't count fast, that makes them brothers-in law.

In the after-match meeting, we had a drawing for trail prizes (that sounds more cowboy than door prizes).  Mad Dog Joe contributed a box of .45 ammo (won by Limp Along Charlie) and a box of 12ga shells (won by Double Barrel). Pleasant contributed a can of gun powder cooking seasoning (won by Exiled Mainer).  Cool Waters, the bullet vendor from the Alabama club, contributed a certificate for a box of bullets (won by the 'Nooga Kid, a visitor from the Griffin, GA club).  And the 'Nooga Kid contributed a cowboy music CD (won by Gravemaker).  In all, 34 of the 62 shooters shot 1 or more clean stages, made a lot of smoke and noise, and had a whale of a time.

Don't forget, we vote for 2002 officers at the October Shoot, and you have to be there to vote.
CRUEL HAND LUKE SHOT A PERFECT MATCH AT THE SEPTEMBER SHOOT AND FINISHED 1st IN OVERALL COMPETITION.  (HE ALSO GOT MARRIED THE WEEK BEFORE SHOOT WEEK)  CONGRATULATIONS, COWBOY!
SPIRIT OF THE GAME:  SASS GUIDELINES PROVIDE THAT COWBOYS AND COWGIRLS WHO PARTICIPATE IN COWBOY SHOOTING EVENTS STAY IN COSTUME THROUGHOUT THE EVENT.  PLEASE STAY IN COWBOY / COWGIRL COSTUME AT AFTER-SHOOT MEETINGS.  COWFOLKS DIDN'T WEAR BALL CAPS.
